What to do with old jewelry…

As you can imagine, I come across all sorts of fun stuff when I organize.  I recently said:

“A junk drawer!  Those are my favorite!  You never know what you will find!”

And we found a bag of teeth!  Disclaimer: I was helping my mom, and they were my teeth.  Garbage, immediately!

Well I come across lots of cool stuff and not such cool stuff (teeth, hair). 🙂  The cool stuff thus far is jewelry.  If you want to know what to do with all that old jewelry…

First, a little learning session.

Estate jewelry:  any piece that has been previously owned

Antique jewelry: any piece that is over 100 years old

Second, a piece of advice.

Sell your jewelry to a reputable jeweler.  If there is no emotional attachment to your Looney Tunes charm bracelet, then sell it.  I recently helped a client get $2,300 for her old jewelry.  And we arent even talking about the good stuff!  This was a pile of cruddy looking bracelets, charms, and necklaces that wouldnt see the light of day ever again.

I had to pick up my jaw from the floor when I found out.  Astonished!

Perry’s of SouthPark does a fantastic job.  I highly {HIGHLY} recommend them!

And no Im not getting a kickback from them — I honestly would sell my goodies there.  Too bad I dont have any! 😉

They buy coins, gold, diamonds, vintage jewelry, and silver.  Those old silver serving pieces that will never be used … ever … again.  Take those too!

Dont clean the silver or the jewelry before going.  They prefer that you dont.

Until next time…
