Out Junkin…

I realize that antique shopping … picking … hunting … however you want to refer to it is not a new hobby or concept. ¬†However, I realize it is new to me! ūüôā ¬†I am a “less is more” kind of person when it comes to stuff in my house and life, but I am starting to appreciate items with history (like antiques).

Another trend I am noticing … clients are asking for organizing pieces with character and design aspects. ¬†That $15 corkboard from Target doesn’t cut it anymore. ¬†Something pretty and functional is what people are asking¬†demanding for!

I started my antique hunting a few weeks back. ¬†I have some items I’m selling for a client and I needed to figure out what they were. ¬†Sleepy Poet Antique Mall I went. ¬†The rest is history — I’m hooked!

If you want to go antique shopping with me sometime, then drop a line in the comments or by email! ūüôā

SLEEPY POET

Located at 4450 South Blvd.  (near Woodlawn)

Hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: ¬†10am-6pm
  • Friday – Saturday: ¬†10am-8pm
  • Sunday: ¬†12pm-6pm

The place is pretty large with tons of dealers. ¬†Think of it as a Black Lion for antiques … and a lot more stuff. ¬†I have not had a chance to go and quietly stroll. ¬†Must.Go.Back.

Here are a few pictures from items I found:

Dress Forms are everywhere!
I would organize and display jewelry, scarves, & hats!

Old tool bins/tins. Great for a garage!

Drawers .. Card files.
These were chest height. LOVE the character.

THE DEPOT AT GIBSON MILL

Located at 325 McGill Ave, Suite 250.  Concord, NC.

Hours:

  • Monday – Saturday: ¬†10am-7pm
  • Sunday: ¬†1pm-6pm

This place rocks my world. ¬†It is an old mill turned antique mall. ¬†Same concept as Sleepy Poet except is more spread out (aka more room to gently stroll). ¬†I’m so glad I had my camera. ¬†The¬†inspirational¬†ideas were endless!

Chalkboard is everywhere!
This was on a door.

For your keys.

Love these hooks and the style.

Do you antique?

I know I mentioned this in yesterday’s post, but the idea of antiquing is intriguing. ¬†So I ask — do you antique? ¬†If so, what are you in search for?

Do you prefer consignment and resale stores over antique stores? ¬†The price tags were pretty steep at Fifteen Ten Antiques. ¬†I didn’t know if this was common.

Pondering … should I start to antique shop myself? ¬†Looking for input today! ūüôā
