Clothes Mentor & Why I Love It…

Thrifting has become a major hobby of mine for the past few months.  I will go weeks without hitting up a thrift store, and then I get the junkin’ bug and *bam* I’m back in the Goodwill searching for another Hermes tie.  (yes, I have found 2 Hermes ties to date)  😉

What I like about thrifting is the thrill of the hunt.  The prices are unbeatable.

What I don’t like about thrifting is having to sort through the crap to find the occasional “Oh my, is that Burberry?”   If I am looking for something specific (style & color), then it might take several trips to Goodwill or the like in order to find it … if ever.

Clothes Mentor

This brings me to Clothes Mentor.  It is above Goodwill and below consignment stores.  (I blogged about my experience at FiFi’s Fine Resale here).  The prices at Clothes Mentor are awesome.  It is organized beautifully (by style, then size, then color).  It is like shopping in a boutique store — really!

They are opening another location in the Charlotte area.  The one I frequent is off Kings Dr near the Melting Pot.  901 S. Kings Dr., Charlotte, NC

If you are shopping, then be sure to grab a loyalty card.  $10 = 1 punch on the card.  Checking in on Facebook also = 1 punch.

They have two large sales per year.  I accidentally happened upon the first sale and will definitely be going back for the next one! 🙂

If you are selling, then I recommend dropping off your clothes and coming back after lunch or the next day.  It takes a little over an hour.  You will also walk out with cash, if they decide your clothes are sellable.  They give you 1/3 of what they sell it for.

Example:  GAP Maxi Dress will be sold for $18.  You will be offered $5.94 for that one item.

Check their website for more information on the buying/selling process.

Back to the fun stuff.  Here are some of my goodies:

Banana Republic Shift Dress | $18

BCBGeneration Shirt | $8

Polo Sport Nautical Shirt | $14

I love them all! 🙂  I’m working on becoming more fashion forward and I give mad props to my friends who help push and support.  My {Fashion} Spring/Summer board on Pinterest is coming together! 🙂

This outfit is my ultimate spring and summer inspiration! 🙂 I need to buy some stacked bracelets, statement necklaces, colored britches, and TOMS! 🙂

Inside The Organizer’s Home {Purses}…

Hello! Happy Happy Monday! 🙂  I’m slightly weird in that I actually enjoy Mondays!  This was my second weekend “off”…in a row mind you.  Two days off does a Jennifer good. 🙂

Okay…second edition of Inside The Organizer’s Home!  Today’s topic:  Purses!  You get a little surprise too…a shot of my closet. 🙂

Disclaimer:  I have since purged a few things since taking these pictures.  So the closet actually looks a little better!

PURSES

I don’t own a lot of purses.  Truthfully, I don’t own a lot of any “one” thing, but I think displaying stuff is the best way to organize it.  Remember last week’s post about jewelry?  Showcase those earrings!  I honestly feel that way about most anything you own.  If you liked it enough to buy it, then you should like it enough to display it.

Examples: earrings, necklaces, purses, shoes.  Make getting ready in the morning more fun!

Okay — back to the topic.  I personally organize my purses by hanging them from a tension rod.

Organizing purses using a shower curtain rod

I bought a shower curtain rod from Target along with a few shower curtain hooks.  Voila!  This method will not work if you have more than 10 purses {the rod will fall}.  How do you organize your purses?

Bonus:  shot of my closet. 🙂

More to come next week!

Until next time…
