Nothing To It…

Nothing To It But To Do It

What a great quote.  “Nothing to do it but to do it.”

It’s Raymond’s motto.  He has {finally} instilled this in me.  On Monday I could feel my nerves starting to surface while waiting for the Charlotte Today show to start.  I was pacing the area practicing my lines.  Raymond could tell I was getting nervous.  He looked at me and said, “There’s nothing to it but to do it.”  Yes indeed!

Last year started out rather quietly for me.  Quiet is a nervous time for an entrepreneur.  I had several ups that helped build some confidence.  I had some downs that took me 4 steps back.  As I wouldn’t have it any other way — after all no one got anywhere without crossing a few bumps in the road & it’s the best way to live and learn — it was a very unsure time.  I was learning to trust the process, something my coach taught me early early on! {hi Robin!}

Trusting any process is a very hard thing to do.  What about the future.  What about the “what if’s”.  What about the worst case scenarios.

I’ve done a lot of soul searching in the past 3 years.  A. Lot.  I think it comes with the territory when you decide to focus and work on your passion.  The below words of wisdom might help you during your journey … if you are on one.

I can remember the day as if it was yesterday.  I was at home {in Dallas} hanging with my mom and having a very deep conversation with Raymond over text message.  Late night too btw.  It went a little something like this:

Nuggets of Advice from Raymond

  • Do your best now and live happy.
  • Set goals — have dreams.
  • Tomorrow will come.  That is certain.
  • Just do your best each day and everything around you will grow and be in harmony.
  • Don’t lose sight of what makes you happy because then it becomes a struggle and a burden.
  • Control yourself & don’t let things control you.
  • See hazards but don’t focus on them.
  • Mentally focus on the positive.
  • You have to want it.
  • Be hungry for it — not afraid of failure.  {Um, way easier said than done!}
  • If you want it, truly bad enough, then you will believe enough.  You will find yourself doing things that produce results.
  • You’ve worked too hard and that’s when you have to dig deeper and work harder.
  • When you think it is all over that is when you just got started.
  • You don’t plan everything out.  Things don’t always go as planned.  There are curveballs.
  • You don’t walk away.  You dig in and hit the shot.
    • This was right after the 2012 Masters where Bubba Watson hit the shot of a lifetime to win.
  • Grow the hunger.  If you don’t use it, then you will lose it.
  • Believe you can — it never ends.
  • When you stop, you lose.
  • Be around others with drive, positive thinking, the experience, the know how.
  • Don’t bum off them, but instead feed off them.  Learn from them.
  • Make your own decisions.
  • Take good and bad from it all, processing it and bettering it everyday.
  • You have to check yourself.
    • Do you want it?
    • Are you going to fold when obstacles get in the way?
    • Do you want to be happy and enjoy what you do for a living  — through good times and bad?
  • You don’t have to be a millionaire to be happy.
  • Just wake up doing what you love.
  • Smile — Love — and Be Loved.
  • What is promised and given is that you live and you die.
  • Live each day happy.
  • Or die in a never winning race to be rich and successful.
    • That is a rat race — you die always a rat.
  • It’s a marathon not a sprint.
  • Do the right things — learn and you will be fine.
  • Focus, work, be thankful — that will produce the right opportunities for tomorrow.
  • Enjoy the journey.
  • We are all given the time.  We are all given the choice.  When it’s up — it’s up.
  • Embrace it and let it roll.
  • Don’t question it — just believe totally in your thoughts and work.
  • Go to bed with a smile and know you are living a good life.
  • You get up in the morning and keep moving in that direction with that attitude.
  • Make today count.

🙂   That is all I have to say about that.

Until next time…

My Theme for 2013…

I shared with you last week that my theme for 2012 was “Try It On”.

My theme for 2013 is “Trust & Patience”.

Theme for 2013

I have to trust that I am on the right path.  I have to trust that all roads lead to Rome.  That the hard work will mean something.  Without trust, life is harder than it has to be.

All good things come to those that wait?  Nah — wrong quote.  I’m not waiting, but I have to be patient.  Rome wasn’t built in a day and everything doesn’t happen overnight.  It takes some time.  Be patient and keep moving forward.

I’m reading this book, Life On The Wire, by Todd Duncan.  {Great book btw.}

“It also comes from believing that [your] purpose looks more like a path than a destination.”

Well said!  It’s not the end result, it is the journey there that matters. 🙂

A friend of mine sent this to me earlier last year.  Ditto to all of you!

What is your theme for 2013?

Until next time…
